What it's like to work with a Squarespace website designer

If you've been putting off your website for months (or years!), I get it.

It can feel like a bit, techy job. And when you don’t know what working with a Squarespace website designer actually involved, it’s so easy to keep pushing it to the bottom of the list.

So I thought I'd pull back the curtain a little.

This is exactly what happens when you work with me at Elevo Studio, from our very first chat right through to launch day. No long boring forms. Just five simple steps, and a website at the end that feels completely like you.

The Squarespace web design process, step by step

Step 1: The discovery call

Every project starts with a free discovery call, and it's one of my favourite bits!

This is where I learn all about your business and what you'd love your website to do. We'll chat through your core offerings, how your site might be structured, and any branding you already have.

Afterwards, I'll send over a proposal with the scope of your project, the fee and the payment terms. No pressure, just everything laid out clearly so you can decide what feels right.

Step 2: The strategy workshop

Once your deposit is in, we kick things off properly with a strategy workshop.

This is where I really get to know you: your business, your brand, your personality and your style. We'll look at your competitors and some of my favourite websites for inspiration, so I can get a feel for what you love (and what you really don't!).

We'll also talk SEO. We'll think about the keywords your customers are searching for and the content each page needs, so the right people can actually find you.

Step 3: Content development

Next, you'll get access to your own dedicated client portal.

In there you'll find folders for your branding (logos, colours, patterns, that sort of thing), your photography and imagery, and your copy. This is the part where I'll need you to set aside a little dedicated time to pull everything together.

Please don't panic about the copywriting! I'll give you a template for every page with prompts for each section, so you're never staring at a blank page.

Step 4: Designing your homepage

Your homepage is the heart of your website, so I always start here first.

I'll mock up your homepage with your bespoke design and all the content you've gathered. You can then give feedback and comments until we get it spot on.

Once we're both happy, I'll design the rest of your pages and present them to you together as a suite, ready for your thoughts.

Step 5: Build and launch

When every page mock-up is signed off, I start building your website in Squarespace!

I'll take care of the SEO set-up, we'll make any final tweaks, and then I'll give you a one-hour training session on your new site. Then... we launch!

Once the final payment is made, I transfer ownership over to you. It's officially yours, and you've got a professional website ready to go.

Your questions about working with a Squarespace website designer

How long does a Squarespace website take?

My Bespoke Build is usually delivered in 4 to 6 weeks, and a Landing Page in 2 to 4 weeks. Most projects can get started within 4 weeks of booking, depending on my diary.

How much do I need to contribute?

You'll need to provide your branding, some imagery or photography, and your copy. Don't be daunted though! It all goes into your client portal, and the copy guide prompts you through every section.

I'm not techy. Is this right for me?

It's perfect for you. Squarespace is really intuitive, which is one of the reasons I use it. Your one-hour training session means you'll feel confident updating your site yourself, and I'm only ever a quick WhatsApp away.

How does payment work?

There's a 50% deposit to get started, and the final 50% is due on launch. Once that's paid, I transfer website ownership to you.

What happens after launch?

You'll get 30 days of email support with the Bespoke Build (14 days with the Landing Page) to help with any little tweaks or niggles.

Ready to get started?

Websites can feel daunting, but they really don't have to be.

Whether you're in Ipswich, elsewhere in Suffolk or further afield, I'd love to help you create a website you're proud to share. One that feels completely like you, and brings in those all-important enquiries.
